90 days with Ultraceuticals: Part 1
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Ultraceuticals. I’ve been using their products for some time now and I’ll recommend them to just about anyone who’ll listen. But as any skincare aficionado knows, over time your skin needs change, meaning products and treatments that worked for you 6 months ago might not be suitable right now.
For the past year I have battled on and off with acne. It clears up, then comes back with a vengeance, leaving me scrambling to try every product and treatment under the sun to get rid of it again. When it eventually does go away, I am left with strange red marks on my cheeks, similar to scarring but not as deep. I am also prone to patches of pigmentation in the summer months, which have started to darken on places across my forehead. Safe to say, I was in need of a serious skin overhaul.
So, when I was invited to take part in the Ultraceuticals RVR90 program, the timing couldn’t have been better. RVR90 stands for Real Visible Results in 90 Days and is a program run every year by Ultraceuticals to produce (you guessed it) real visible results for clients. The client is appointed a highly-trained skin expert at an Ultraceuticals salon, who works with them to tackle specific skin concerns through a prescribed a 90-day treatment plan and homecare regime.
My Ultraceuticals expert is the lovely Rebecca from Serendipity Medi Spa in Baldivis. On my first consultation we speak in-depth about my skin’s history, concerns I have and my goals. She takes photos on the Ultraceuticals imaging machine and we analyse different layers of my skin. I’m surprised to find my UV damage is nowhere near as bad as I thought (thanks mum for forcing SPF on me every day as a young girl!) but patches of pigmentation and congestion show up, meaning our work is cut out for us – brighten the skin and keep blemishes at bay.
Rebecca prescribes me a skincare regime containing the following:
I follow up my morning routine with my usual Ultraceuticals SPF 30 and then makeup, but the prescribed products above are specifically tailored to clearing breakouts, brightening the skin and keeping it super hydrated.
My first treatment is a Mandelic Peel, one of Ultraceuticals most popular peels as it requires virtually no downtime and is suitable for all skin types. Mandelic acid is an AHA that works to decongest skin by deeply exfoliating and cleaning pores as well as beating blotchiness of hyperpigmentation. After the peel had worked its magic, Rebecca then applied the Ultra Energizing Mask, then infused a cocktail of Ultra Brightening Serum and Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum into the skin using the Ultraceuticals Sonophoresis Machine. Following my first treatment my skin feels incredibly clean and supple and I notice the few spots I had disappear overnight! I am lucky enough not to fall victim to any post-peel flaking, just slight redness for a couple of days which dissipates quickly enough.
Two weeks later, I am back at Serendipity for my second appointment. After a close look at my skin, Rebecca decides on a more advanced treatment for me, microdermabrasion and an A-Zyme Peel. Not too long ago I had this exact treatment at another clinic and knew how incredible it was for my skin. Microdermabrasion is the ultimate cleanse, so my skin felt sparkly clean and ready for the A-Zyme Peel to work its magic. After the peel was applied to my skin (which felt a bit warm and tingly), Rebecca treated me to a sublime head massage. Following this, a hydrating lotion and SPF are applied and I a head off into the afternoon.
I can’t wait to report back on my skin progress in a couple of weeks, something tells me I’ll be impressed.
